Duration of the programme: 4 years (8 semesters)
Programme description:
Doctoral students will gain specialists knowledge and skills, including state-of-the-art techniques and research methodologies by carrying out scientific research. The acquired knowledge and skills can be used by doctoral students in the implementation of doctoral projects, often in cooperation with leading Polish and foreign research units. The program consists of compulsory courses and electives, including practical classes in basic, clinical and public health sciences, as well as other types of courses that promote effective learning and the acquisition of knowledge and skills.
The study program covers the following main research areas: anatomical and physiological determinants of organism functioning, analysis of pathological changes in selected organs in the course of infectious and invasive diseases and poisoning, research in the field of pharmacokinetics, immunopharmacology, the influence of xenobiotics on the functioning of animal organisms, research on the use of insect protein in nutrition of farm animals, improvement of methods of diagnosis of viral and bacterial diseases in animals with the use of immunological methods and molecular biology, the use of modern techniques of clinical diagnosis in veterinary medicine, etiology, epidemiology, diagnostics, prevention and control of infectious and parasitic diseases in farm and companion animals, reproduction and pet neonatology, safety of the animal origin food products and public health protection.
The study program offers a wide variety of courses on interdisciplinary research issues and focuses on encouraging doctoral students to develop their creativity, including creative problem-solving, innovation, and commercialization of research results.
Career opportunities:
The graduates have the advanced and specialized knowledge and skills in the fields of veterinary medicine. They can find employment as clinicians or veterinary administrators, leaders and managers in various sectors of the economy, including specialist companies and laboratories providing services in the agricultural, agri-food processing and animal husbandry sectors. Graduates are also prepared to continue their professional careers in academia and research institutions in Poland and abroad.
