Doctoral students who commenced their doctoral studies in the academic year 2019/2020 at the earliest and are in receipt of a doctoral scholarship are subject to compulsory pension, disability and accident insurance.

Sickness insurance is voluntary and coverage is at the request of the doctoral student. This applies only to Polish PhD students.

Every doctoral student studying at a doctoral school receives a doctoral scholarship. In the academic year 2023/2024, this amounted to PLN 3466.90 gross per month and PLN 4506.97 gross after the mid-term evaluation. The doctoral scholarship is paid for a total of forty-eight months of training at the doctoral school.
