Competition for an additional place at the Doctoral School of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn for the academic year 2025/2026

Based on a motion submitted by the Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences under the “Zawacka NAWA” Programme of the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), a competition is hereby announced for one place at the Doctoral School of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, within the scientific discipline of management and quality sciences, for the academic year 2025/2026.

Requirements for candidates:

  1. Completion of second-cycle (Master’s) studies (Master’s degree or equivalent) in the field of Business Administration (management).
  2. Research interests consistent with the scope of the discipline, e.g. ESG, sustainable development, quality management systems, customer satisfaction, organizational culture.
  3. Ability to design and conduct scientific research (quantitative and qualitative), including: preparation of research instruments (survey/interview questionnaires), sampling, conducting research in organizations, and analysis of results.
  4. Knowledge of basic data analysis methods (descriptive and inferential statistics, regression, comparative analysis, etc.) and willingness to further develop methodological competencies during doctoral studies.
  5. Ability to work with data and analytical tools: very good command of Excel and at least one data analysis tool (e.g. SPSS / R / Stata / Python); programming in R is an asset.
  6. Ability to present research results and familiarity with reference management tools (Zotero/Mendeley and AI-based tools).
  7. Ability to communicate (orally and in writing) in English at a minimum level of B2.
  8. Experience in preparing academic texts (articles, book chapters, research reports).
  9. Ability to work in a research team; strong communication skills, reliability, and independence; good work organization and punctuality.
  10. High motivation for scientific work and professional development (publications, conferences, seminars), and readiness to conduct empirical research (e.g. contact with companies/institutions, interviews, surveys).

Required documents:

  • Application for admission to the Doctoral School according to the template specified by the University (available in the IRK system; must be completed electronically);
  • A copy of the diploma confirming completion of long-cycle Master’s studies or second-cycle studies, or an equivalent diploma obtained under separate regulations, or a declaration that the diploma or certificate confirming the award of a Master’s or Master of Engineering degree will be submitted by the date specified in the competition schedule;
  • A copy of the diploma together with the diploma supplement or another document confirming completion of studies abroad, recognized as equivalent to a Polish second-cycle or long-cycle Master’s degree in accordance with regulations on the recognition (nostrification) of higher education diplomas obtained abroad, unless the candidate is exempt from the nostrification procedure or the diploma is recognized as equivalent under an international agreement, or recognized as entitling the holder to undertake doctoral education in the Republic of Poland (applies to candidates holding a higher education diploma issued abroad), together with an individual recognition statement issued by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) confirming the right to undertake education at a Doctoral School in Poland;
  • A declaration confirming knowledge of English at a level enabling education at a doctoral school;
  • A description of an initial research project proposal in Polish or English (maximum 1,500 words excluding references), including the following elements: title, keywords, research objective/problem, significance of the proposed research, research methodology, research concept and plan, and preliminary bibliography;
  • A declaration by the person proposed to act as supervisor confirming acceptance of supervisory duties and indicating the number of doctoral candidates currently supervised;
  • Declarations by the proposed supervisor and the Dean of the Faculty employing the proposed supervisor confirming the provision of funds for conducting research related to the preparation of the doctoral dissertation and other scientific activities resulting from the Doctoral School Regulations;
  • A declaration by the candidate applying for admission to the Doctoral School confirming the absence of any disciplinary penalty and the absence of a final conviction for an intentional criminal offence;
  • One paper photograph compliant with the requirements for issuing Polish identity cards, and one digital photograph in JPG format meeting the same requirements, uploaded to the IRK system;
  • Copies of documents confirming the scientific/artistic activity indicated in the application for admission to the Doctoral School.
  • Consent to the processing of personal data for the purposes of the qualification procedure.

Additional documents required from candidates who are not Polish citizens (to be submitted after admission to the Doctoral School):

  • Proof of possession of a health and accident insurance policy valid for the period of education in Poland, or a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), or confirmation of enrollment in the Polish National Health Fund (NFZ) (original or a copy certified by the University).

Submission of documents:

Candidates must submit documents via the IRK system by 29 January 2026 (by 2:00 p.m.).

Form of the qualification procedure:

In accordance with §8–15 of Resolution No. 47 of the Senate of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn of 28 February 2025 on the conditions, procedure, and schedule of the competition procedure for admission to the Doctoral School of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn for the academic year 2025/2026.

  • Registration in the IRK system: 26–29 January 2026
  • Submission of documents: by 29 January 2026
  • First stage of the competition procedure: 2 February 2026
  • Second stage of the qualification procedure: 5 February 2026
  • Announcement of results: 6 February 2026
