Programme Description

The Doctoral School programme equips graduates with solid expertise within the scope of humanistic and social sciences; it also provides them with thorough specialist knowledge within literary studies. The didactic offer fosters the development of methodological research know-how of the students, including the systematic development of the research of literary phenomena and processes in the context of synchronic and diachronic approaches, the creation of various texts, their analysis, interpretation (including scientific publications) and research procedures, literary studies with the implementation of appropriate methods and techniques. The acquired literary studies competencies enable further novel, scientific projects within literary and cultural studies.

Graduate profile:

Having graduated from the Doctoral School, the alumni demonstrate profound knowledge within the scope of humanities – particularly literary issues – associated with their doctoral projects. The alumni are competent in researching particular literary cases and communicating in their mother tongues and foreign languages. The alumni are ready to self-educate, as well as to undertake individual or team scientific challenges. They are prepared for the highest-quality research and didactic effort and can seek employment with higher education institutions, research institutes, and other scientific and/or educational establishments. The alumni will be adequately prepared for post-doctoral internship/training, a continuation of research, and employment in the academic environment, be it in the home or foreign research institutions.
